Scott's has been in business for a long time and with that comes wisdom. And it shows. We recently visited again and again it was absolutely wonderful. The manager remembers us when we come through the door. The bartenders greet you with a smile and then make you a spectacular drink that doesn't disappoint. (Blueberry Lemon Drop for me.) The ambiance is white linens and simple elegance. Soft and welcoming but formal enough that it's a treat. Mind you we wore shorts as it's been 100° lately. But whether it's a suit or nice shorts, you're welcome there. The food is the star of the show, the surf & turf was on point. The lobster tail, perfectly cooked. The steak came exactly as ordered. We've had the halibut, Cioppino, the chicken, and pasta. All fantastic. The wrapped prawns are an excellent beginning as is the tuna ahi. GOOOOOOOO!

Absolutely delicious meal. From the over the top staff to the quality of ingredients. We could not believe that more people were not dining here on a Friday night. The indoor space is not huge but spacious enough and the patio area looked lovely as wel We had the clams, clam chowder, oysters, Oscar style steak, seafood sauté, and some of the best cheesecake we have ever had for dessert. We highly recommend and will definitely come back!

My favorite restaurant in San Jose. The staff are amazing - so warm and welcoming. Shoutout to Tony, Poncho & Hugo for being the best. The food and cocktails are great too. Over my many visits, my top orders are the Seared Ahi Salad and Jumbo Wrapped Prawns. I've moved away from the Bay, but I'll be back here every visit!

On a strip of Downtown, parking lot on weekends is $15 Fish n chips: normal nothing crazy Cesar salad: no sauce at all, just salad and parmesan cheese Salmon fettuccine: 9/10 not super creamy, mushroom with the salmon is perfect. Portion is good Espresso martini: can't believe I'm saying this but it was sooo strong! Mule: good Custom order of Midori sour: extremely sweet, would recommend paring the drink with the a side of water for Chase

Seaing Red Venerable San José Institution that's been serving up some of the finest seafood in DTSJ for over thirty years. This is not the official location, as they were forced to move around three years ago from Park Ave to this current Paseo de San Antonio location. Personally, I kinda prefer this Paseo location over the old spot, but I know that rooftop seating is sorely missed. It's been a while since I've dined here, and we decided to give them a whirl for Valentine's Day, as they had a four-course menu for $95/per. The Good: *Service was fantastic, and the meal was paced out beautifully. They also handed out roses to all the ladies, which is a class move. *Reservations via OpenTable *Outdoor heated seating *Drinks were a bit on the pricier side, but they were delicious and packed a nice punch... 0_o *Complimentary bread was pretty good, but the seasoned garlic EVOO that came along with it was finger-lickin' good. *Both first courses were delicious with the seared ahi tuna melting in my mouth, and the mini crab cakes were an explosion of flavor. *Filet Mignon á la Oscar was cooked beautifully; the mashed potatoes were seasoned well; and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The only complaint was the lump crab on top, which was flavorless and didn't seem to have much purpose other than fulfilling the namesake of the dish. *Lobster Risotto was delicious and cooked perfectly. The only complaint was the lobster was overcooked, just a touch, but once you mixed it in with the creamy Risotto, you didn't really notice it much. *Pistachio Crème Brûlée lived up to the hype with a nice subtle pistachio flavor with the creamy custard and crispy sugar topping that put it over the top. The Meh: *Lobster Bisque tasted more like a creamy pumpkin soup to me than a Lobster Bisque, but either way, it was still pretty tasty. *Molten Chocolate Cake was disappointing, as it was a bit dry, not very fudgey--or molten--and could've used some salt to brighten it up. *Pretty disappointing for a locally-owned spot like this to only have macrobrews on-tap and not feature any local beers from their neighbors just a few doors down . The Ugly: *Parking can always be a bit difficult in DTSJ--especially if you're not a regular patron--so do yourself a favor and plan accordingly. Conclusion: Great spot for a date night, anniversary, or just want to treat yourself to some good food in DTSJ.

Came here with a larger group of 8 and the servers were very attentive and accommodating. I wasn't too hungry so I got a caesar salad and a bowl of clam chowder. Caesar salad was average, clam chowder was very creamy and delicious. Tried some of the mushroom ravioli, sea bass, and filet mignon as well and all were pretty solid. Classy, clean interior, and nice location in the middle of downtown SJ.

Scott's is a longstanding favorite in San Jose and was glad to go again. Not inexpensive but great food, fresh seafood, and a beautiful dining room along with amazing, efficient service. The wait staff is top notch. I'll talk about the food but first, will say one thing disappointed me--the covert extra charges. It's not a lot of money but surely must add up, so I guess they make quite a nice amount, but it left at least one customer feeling a little slimed. First, check the small print on the menu: "*Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs, may increase your risk of foodborne illness. Split plate charge $7, Corkage fee $35 per 750 ml bottle. In support of rising wages and city & State ordinances, a 5.5% surcharge will be added to your check. Please let your server know if you'd like this charge removed. Thank you for your patronage." Wait, what? Did you notice the "surcharge"? I thought supporting rising wages and local and state ordinances (whatever that means) were the business's responsibility? increase your prices to what you need to charge, don't hide a fee in the middle of a paragraph you know few will read. Second, the tip in the payment system defaults to 21%. Wait, what? As I recall, the choices were 17 or 21 or 25%. So someone who wants to tip 20 has to do some math--they know we won't, so they pull in an extra 1% on most checks. Look, an extra percent or an extra 5.5% is not the end of the world but it's not an honorable, straightforward way to do business. Now, all that said, we were perfectly happy with our evening. We had three dishes Scott's has been serving with excellence for decades. The crab cakes are fresh, crab-forward, and crispy without being the least bit oily. The cioppino is great--lots of fresh seafood in a broth that has a little cream in it, unusual for cioppino and a great touch. (Slight quibble: there is a crab leg and I think it should be cracked in the kitchen, as that leg is the sole reason the diner needs to get their hands messy.) And finally, a crab louie salad that had lots of crab and fresh (there's that word again) ingredients.
